Sprint (S) Entices Potential iPhone 6/6+ Buyers with Discounted Unlimited Leasing Plan

September 10, 2014 7:27 AM EDT

Sprint (NYSE: S) is starting a fairly enticing plan called iPhone for Life.

Under the plan, users pick an Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone 6 or iPhone 6+, pay nothing, and get unlimited talk, text, and data for $50 per month. The company will also pay for users to switch from Verizon (NYSE: VZ), AT&T (NYSE: T), or "any other competitor" (a slight jab at T-Mobile (NYSE: TMUS), though there are plenty of smaller service providers out there which I'm sure Sprint would love users to switch over from).

To be clear, this is a special iPhone deal only. You basically lease the iPhone and get a great rate in the process. This indicates that Sprint finds real value with iPhone customers.

The typical all-you-can-eat plan from Sprint would still see users pay $199 upfront to keep their phone from day one and then see an $85 per month bill for unlimited everything. There's also a leasing program for $30 per month on top of the $50 per month unlimited plan, with an upfront sales cost of $58.

In any case, if you're interested in the iPhone 6/6+, Sprint might be a very intriguing option. We've included a chart with the options below and, while we're not promoting the offer, Sprint's website is here.
