Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is expecting to ship a substantial amount of 9.7-inch iPad models in calendar Q4, even as markets have largely embraced smaller tablets including the iPad mini in recent years.
Digitimes cites supply-chain sources in saying that Apple is planning on about 10 million or more units of the larger iPad to be shipped in the current quarter.
Suppliers for the iPad panels include LG Display (NYSE: LPL), Samsung, and Sharp.
Hon Hai Precision (Foxconn) will be the main assembler of the device.
Shares of Apple are up in early trading Wednesday.
