CVS Caremark (CVS) Tops Q1 EPS by 4c; Guides Q2, Narrows FY13 Outlook

CVS Caremark (NYSE: CVS) reported Q1 EPS of $0.83, $0.04 better than the analyst estimate of $0.79. Revenue for the quarter came in at $30.76 billion versus the consensus estimate of $30.36 billion.

* Retail pharmacy same store prescription volumes increased 2.0%; 4.7% on a 30-day equivalent basis
* Retail pharmacy same store sales declined 2.3% due to new generic introductions; front store same store sales increased 1.4%

Sees FY2013 EPS of $3.89-$4.00, versus the consensus of $3.97.

Sees Q2 2013 EPS of $0.94-$0.97, versus the consensus of $0.94.
