BlackBerry (BBRY) CEO Heins: Z10 Feedback 'Very Encouraging'; Will Introduce Lower-Cost Device

BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) CEO Thorsten Heins said feedback on the Z10 is "very encouraging" and he is surprised by the interest in the Z10 from other platform users.
Speaking in Waterloo, Ontario this morning, Heins noted that the Z10 is selling well in India and that five days of inventory sold out in just two days.
BlackBerry is planning to introduce a lower-cost BB10 device in markets like India this year, though the company won't get into the $50 to $60 range for unsubsidized phones.
The company is also working on a new operating system partnership with the Mercedes-Benz racing team.
Shares of BlackBerry are down 2.8 percent Thursday.
