Schneider Electric becomes first company with NEMA Make it American certs
Schneider Electric (Euronext Paris: SU) announced that more than 20 of its U.S. manufacturing facilities have received NEMA Make it American domestic content certifications, making it the first company to achieve this certification across such a scale of operations.
The certified facilities are located across 12 states including California, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. These facilities manufacture electrical equipment including low and medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, variable speed drives, and motor control centers.
The certification process began with Schneider Electric's Fairfield, Ohio facility, which became one of the first in the country to receive the certification in May 2025. The company has since expanded the certification to more than 20 facilities after passing independent audits.
The NEMA Make it American certification provides verification that facilities and supply chains meet Build America, Buy America domestic content requirements for federal-aid projects. This allows customers sourcing equipment for federally funded projects to demonstrate compliance with domestic content requirements.
"Today's announcement marks another milestone in our responsible supply chain and regionalization strategy at Schneider Electric," said Mourad Tamoud, EVP and Chief Supply Chain Officer at Schneider Electric.
NEMA President and CEO Debra Phillips stated that "Schneider Electric has set a new standard" as the first company to earn the certification across more than 20 U.S. facilities.
The announcement coincides with Kelly Becker, President of North America Operations at Schneider Electric, being appointed to NEMA's Board of Directors. Schneider Electric operates more than 20 manufacturing facilities and distribution centers in the U.S. and employs over 24,000 people domestically.
