Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) announced it will not submit a bid for the U.S. Navy's Undergraduate Jet Training System program. The company stated its T-7A aircraft does not meet the Navy's requirements for the training system.
Boeing informed the Navy of its decision to withdraw from the current request for proposals after conducting an evaluation of the program requirements. The aerospace manufacturer determined that its T-7A trainer aircraft was not suitable for the Navy's specifications.
The company said it remains committed to delivering the T-7A as a training solution for pilots of fourth, fifth and sixth generation aircraft as requirements develop. Boeing also stated it will continue providing capabilities and support services for current and future Navy programs.
The T-7A Red Hawk is Boeing's advanced pilot training system that the company is developing for the U.S. Air Force. The withdrawal from the Navy competition means Boeing will not compete for this particular training aircraft contract.
