Tetra Tech Inc. (NASDAQ: TTEK) announced it was selected as lead design engineer for a hydropower dam spillway modernization project in Washington state. The company will work as part of a team with Kuney Construction and J.F. Brennan under a multi-year contract with Chelan County Public Utility District.
The project involves modernizing spillway infrastructure at Rock Island Dam and Rocky Reach Dam on the Columbia River. Tetra Tech will conduct infrastructure assessments and develop new spillway gates, gate controls, and concrete rehabilitation for both facilities.
The company's work will include structural, mechanical and electrical analyses, seismic evaluations, and risk assessments. Tetra Tech will also perform value engineering studies and develop design solutions for the hydroelectric facilities.
"Chelan County Public Utility District owns and operates the second largest nonfederal, publicly owned hydroelectric generating system in the nation," said Roger Argus, Tetra Tech CEO.
The contract falls under a Progressive Design-Build structure, combining planning, assessment, engineering and construction services. Chelan County PUD operates hydroelectric facilities that provide power to customers in the region.
Tetra Tech, based in Pasadena, California, provides consulting and engineering services for water, environmental and infrastructure projects. The company employs more than 25,000 people globally.
