Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) announced Siri AI, a redesigned version of its voice assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. The company said the new assistant features conversational capabilities, personal context understanding, and onscreen awareness across its operating systems.
According to the press release, Siri AI can access information from users' messages, emails, and photos while answering web-based questions on various topics. The assistant includes a dedicated app for conversation history and expanded Visual Intelligence features.
"We're excited to introduce Siri AI, a dramatically more capable and conversational assistant designed to help users find information and get things done throughout the day," said Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering.
The new system operates through Apple's Foundation Models running on-device and via Private Cloud Compute servers. Apple stated that personal data processed through Private Cloud Compute is not stored or accessible to the company.
Siri AI includes writing tools that can generate drafts and edit text across applications. On supported devices, the system offers improved voice expressiveness and dictation accuracy.
Visual Intelligence capabilities extend to iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro, allowing users to ask questions about visual content through screenshots and camera functions.
The features are available for developer testing starting today through iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and visionOS 27. A public beta will launch later this year for English-language users with supported devices.
Siri AI requires iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone 15 Pro models, iPad mini with A17 Pro, iPad models with M1 or later, Mac with M1 or later, Apple Vision Pro, or Apple Watch Series 10 or later models.
