AIM ImmunoTech reports progress in pancreatic cancer drug trial

AIM ImmunoTech Inc. (NYSE American: AIM) announced progress in its Phase 2 clinical study evaluating Ampligen combined with AstraZeneca's Imfinzi for treating metastatic pancreatic cancer patients.

The company reported completion of enrollment for the DURIPANC study, with the final patient enrolled. The trial remains scheduled for a December 2026 evaluation of its primary endpoint, Clinical Benefit Rate, which measures stable disease, partial response, or complete response at 6 months after treatment begins.

The study follows a 57-subject Named Patient Program where Ampligen monotherapy was associated with median survival of 19.7 months in late-stage pancreatic cancer patients, representing an extension of 8.6 months compared to standard care.

"There is a clear need for an approved treatment that is both more effective and less toxic than what is currently available to people suffering with pancreatic cancer," said CEO Thomas Equels in a company statement.

The DURIPANC trial is an investigator-initiated, open-label, single-center study designed to enroll up to 25 subjects. The study represents a collaboration between AIM ImmunoTech, AstraZeneca, and Erasmus Medical Center in the Netherlands.

Secondary objectives include assessing overall survival and progression-free survival, immune monitoring using tissue biopsies, and evaluating quality of life measures. The company indicated plans for a potential Phase 3 clinical trial combining Ampligen with a PD-1 inhibitor.
