Investing.com -- ASML chief executive Christopher Fouquet said Friday he supports most of the European Union Commission's proposals to strengthen Europe's technology independence but raised concerns about plans for Commission involvement in overseeing strategic projects that qualify for state aid.
Fouquet said the "demand driven" elements of the EU's tech sovereignty package are positive. He shared his views in a LinkedIn post responding to proposals the Commission made earlier this week.
The ASML CEO said the Commission's plans to steer and monitor strategic projects are a "cause for concern." He called for the Commission to rely on private sector expertise and avoid creating additional bureaucracy.
