Solidion Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: STI) announced a patented lithium metal battery technology designed to address technical barriers in lithium-sulfur, lithium-air, and anodeless lithium metal batteries, according to a company statement.
The Dallas-based battery technology provider said its lithium metal anode protection platform is protected by more than 30 patents and targets three technical challenges: reactions between electrolyte and lithium metal, lithium dendrites that can cause internal shorting, and gaps between lithium metal layers and solid-state electrolytes.
The company said the technology is intended for space infrastructure applications including satellites, low-Earth orbit AI data centers, crewed spacecraft, and lunar infrastructure. Additional applications include electric vehicles, drones, robots, and AI data center backup power systems.
Solidion operates pilot production facilities in Dayton, Ohio, and holds a portfolio of over 385 patents covering silicon anodes, biomass-based graphite, and lithium-sulfur technologies. The company focuses on manufacturing battery materials and components for energy storage, electric vehicles, and aerospace applications.
The announcement was made through a press release statement from the company.
