Ouster Inc. (NASDAQ: OUST) announced a collaboration with FieldAI to integrate its Rev8 digital lidar technology into general-purpose robots operating in unstructured environments. The partnership aims to enhance robotic perception and navigation capabilities in complex industrial settings.
FieldAI develops universal robot control software that works across different robot types and tasks without requiring pre-planned routes or environmental modifications. The company's Field Foundation Models combine artificial intelligence with physics-based reasoning for operations in unpredictable environments.
"FieldAI is at the forefront of deploying general-purpose robots in unstructured settings where work is often dangerous and difficult for humans," said Cyrille Jacquemet, Chief Revenue Officer at Ouster. "We are thrilled to collaborate on leveraging our new Rev8 digital lidar to power the next generation of industrial autonomy."
FieldAI currently uses Ouster's digital lidar to enable robots to navigate unmapped and GPS-denied environments. The company plans to expand deployments with industrial customers across construction, mining, energy, manufacturing, security, and government sectors using the Rev8's sensing capabilities and design specifications.
"Ouster Rev8's ruggedness, performance, and native color are helping FieldAI deliver next-generation physical AI solutions for industrial customers where it matters most, in the field," said Andrew Mullen, Head of Hardware at FieldAI.
FieldAI has raised over $400 million from investors including Bezos Expeditions, Emerson Collective, Khosla Ventures, and NVentures. The company's leadership team includes personnel with experience at Google DeepMind, NASA JPL, and DARPA programs.
Ouster specializes in sensing and perception technology for industrial, robotics, automotive, and smart infrastructure applications. The San Francisco-based company operates globally with offices across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
