Keysight Technologies Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) announced a collaboration with NTT DOCOMO Inc. and NTT Inc. to develop channel modeling and wireless communication simulation for 6G networks. The partnership operates under an existing memorandum of understanding focused on 6G wireless communications design, testing, and measurement technologies.
The collaboration targets two areas: measurement-driven channel modeling and distributed Multiple-Input Multiple-Output simulation. Keysight and DOCOMO are working on channel models using real-world radio propagation measurements, including channel impulse response data, to represent complex environments in laboratory-based wireless simulation. Separately, Keysight and NTT are advancing simulation-based evaluation of distributed MIMO systems, where geographically distributed antennas work together to improve coverage, capacity, and reliability.
The companies plan to present initial results at the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2026 in Malaga, Spain. The work aims to address challenges in accurately reproducing real-world wireless conditions, as field testing can be expensive and difficult to repeat, while simplified lab models may not capture all propagation effects.
"Keysight is helping the 6G ecosystem accelerate innovation with greater confidence," said Peng Cao, vice president and general manager of Keysight's Wireless Test Group. "By combining real-world measurement data with advanced modeling and simulation, this collaboration enables more repeatable validation of next-generation architectures and helps reduce the risk of transitioning from research to deployment."
The collaboration seeks to improve realism, repeatability, and scalability in evaluating next-generation wireless architectures as the industry works toward 6G development.
