Investing.com -- New registrations of Tesla vehicles increased across several European markets in May, according to data released Monday by automotive industry organizations.
In Sweden, Tesla registrations rose 71% to 858 vehicles, while Denmark saw a 136% increase to 1,750 vehicles, data from Mobility Sweden and bilstatistik.dk showed. Spain recorded 1,690 new Tesla registrations, up 113% from a year earlier, according to figures from ANFAC.
France registered 5,446 new Tesla vehicles, marking a 655% jump from the same period last year, data from French automotive organization PFA showed.
Registrations of electrified vehicles, which include battery-electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid models, rose about 21% in Europe in April and accounted for more than two-thirds of total registrations in the region, according to European automotive lobby ACEA.
Several European markets are receiving policy support and subsidies, while higher fuel costs are driving buyers toward lower-emission vehicles.
Britain and Germany, Europe's two largest automotive markets, are scheduled to report monthly registration figures later this week.
Tesla lost nearly half of its European market share in 2025 due to increased competition from Chinese brands, absence of new models and reaction to CEO Elon Musk's political stance.
