H.B. Fuller Company (NYSE: FUL) announced a strategic investment in VerdaFresh, an oxygen barrier technology that enhances the company's barrier coating portfolio. The Vadnais Heights, Minnesota-based adhesives company said the technology aims to accelerate the shift to fully recyclable packaging.
VerdaFresh integrates into H.B. Fuller's existing barrier coating offerings and eliminates the need for EVOH and other non-recyclable or hard-to-recycle barrier layers, according to the company's press release statement. The technology enables mono-material structures designed to be easier to recycle while maintaining shelf life and protection requirements for food and consumer goods.
"This is about removing the biggest obstacles to recyclable packaging," said Jim East, executive vice president of H.B. Fuller's Hygiene, Health and Consumable business. "This coating solution expands our already robust portfolio, enabling simpler, more recyclable packaging designs that reduce waste, lower carbon impact, and meet rising regulatory and consumer expectations, without compromise."
The company stated that the technology reduces overall material use and supports a lower environmental footprint across the packaging lifecycle. H.B. Fuller also noted that VerdaFresh streamlines structures and reduces reliance on multi-layer materials, potentially providing economic benefits alongside environmental gains.
H.B. Fuller reported 2025 revenue of $3.5 billion and operates in more than 30 market segments across 150 countries. The company employs more than 7,100 people globally.
