Laser Photonics receives $250K Johnson & Johnson medical device order
Laser Photonics Corporation (NASDAQ: LASE) announced its subsidiary CMS Laser received a $250,000 order from Johnson & Johnson for a custom laser drilling system. The order marks the company's entry into medical device manufacturing.
The system will be deployed at a third-party component manufacturer supporting Johnson & Johnson's operations for validation in precision drilling applications. CMS Laser has maintained a relationship with Johnson & Johnson spanning more than 30 years, though this represents the first engagement with the company's medical device operations.
The custom on-the-fly drilling system features integrated vision technology for real-time alignment and quality verification. The system is designed for high-precision drilling applications requiring speed, accuracy, and repeatability in high-volume production runs. Manufacturing will take place at Laser Photonics' facilities in Lake Mary, Florida.
"This order from Johnson & Johnson is a meaningful proof point for our strategy of leveraging our deep engineering capabilities and longstanding customer relationships to expand into adjacent, high-growth markets," said Wayne Tupuola, Chief Executive Officer of Laser Photonics.
The development system will operate in a reduced-capability configuration during the validation phase. According to the company, successful validation could enable future deployment of additional systems across Johnson & Johnson's manufacturing lines.
Laser Photonics develops laser systems for industrial and defense applications, serving markets including aerospace, energy, maritime, automotive, and advanced manufacturing. The company is based in Orlando, Florida.
