Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) announced the release of its Signal VHF 400 and VHF 220 marine radios, featuring 3.5-inch color touchscreens and compact designs for marine communication applications.
The VHF 400 model includes an integrated Class B AIS transponder that transmits vessel information including name, position, course and speed to nearby AIS-equipped vessels. Both models feature automated squelch and adaptive noise cancellation technology designed to reduce background noise during voice communications.
The radios include VHF playback capability that automatically records up to three minutes of audio transmission from active channels, with the ability to record three different channels simultaneously. Advanced watch modes allow monitoring of six channels concurrently for VHF activity.
Both models support boat-to-boat calling through Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and include a fist microphone with a 95 dBA speaker output at 0.5 meters. The VHF 400 can transmit and receive VHF, DSC and AIS communication through a single VHF antenna and includes an integrated GPS antenna and receiver.
Garmin also introduced the Signal RM 100 remote station, which allows control of the VHF radios from secondary locations through the Garmin Marine Network. The remote station features the same 3.5-inch color display and includes intercom functionality between networked units.
The radios integrate with Garmin chartplotters via NMEA 2000 network, Garmin Marine Network 1.0 and Garmin BlueNet. Configuration and software updates are available through the ActiveCaptain smartphone app using built-in Wi-Fi connectivity.
The VHF 220 carries a suggested retail price of $999.99, while the RM 100 is priced at $699.99. Both devices will be available June 1, 2026. The VHF 400, priced at $1,499.99, will be available at a later date, according to the company statement.
