AT&T (NYSE: T) announced the launch of Build-A-Plan, a wireless service that allows customers to modify their plan monthly based on their needs and budget. The service becomes available May 27 with a starting price of $15 per month plus taxes and fees.
The plan enables customers to add or remove services at any time without being locked into fixed packages. Customers can adjust their wireless service monthly to match their budget and connectivity requirements.
"Customers want plans that fit their lives. Other carriers offer structured, one-size-fits-all plans bundled with extra services that customers aren't asking for while calling it 'savings'," said Jenifer Robertson, executive vice president and general manager at AT&T Consumer. "By giving our customers the freedom to tailor their wireless service month to month, we are giving them an affordable way to connect to America's largest wireless network and still control their budget."
The $15 monthly rate applies to one line and requires customers to bring an unlocked, eSIM-capable phone. The service operates on AT&T's wireless network, which the company describes as the largest in America when excluding satellite networks.
Build-A-Plan will be available for purchase online through AT&T's website. The company positions this offering as providing more financial flexibility compared to traditional wireless plans that bundle services together.
AT&T serves more than 100 million U.S. customers for personal use and nearly 2.5 million business customers across its wireless and internet services.
