Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (NYSE: RCL) said Mexican environmental authorities indicated they will deny approval for environmental permits needed for the company's Perfect Day Mexico project.
The head of Mexico's Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources made public statements on May 19, 2026, indicating SEMARNAT will deny the company's initial application for environmental permits required to develop the project.
Royal Caribbean said it respects the role of SEMARNAT and other environmental authorities and remains committed to providing information needed for a thorough review of the project.
The company said it will re-engage stakeholders over the coming weeks to move forward with the development. Royal Caribbean stated the project would create thousands of local jobs and include community programs.
The information was provided in a company statement responding to the Mexican official's public comments about the permit application.
