GIPHY announced a multi-year extension of its integration partnership with Meta, allowing the visual communication platform to continue providing GIF and sticker services across Meta's applications including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
The partnership enables GIPHY's content library to remain embedded directly into Meta's user experiences, allowing users to access visual communication tools without leaving the applications. GIPHY is a subsidiary of Shutterstock, Inc. (NYSE: SSTK).
"People don't always want to type how they feel. They want to show it," said Kevin Hein, Chief Growth Officer at GIPHY. "GIPHY makes that possible across Meta's apps every day. This ongoing partnership ensures that experience stays seamless as communication continues to evolve."
According to the announcement, GIFs and stickers are shared daily across Meta platforms. GIPHY commissioned a consumer survey by Censuswide showing users feel more comfortable expressing emotions through visuals than text.
GIPHY reports a daily user reach of more than 1 billion users and serves over 10 billion pieces of short-form content daily. The platform was founded in 2013 and acquired by Shutterstock in 2023.
The extended agreement maintains GIPHY's role in providing visual communication tools across Meta's suite of social media and messaging platforms, supporting the continued integration of GIF and sticker functionality in digital communications.
