AeroVironment Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV) announced two additions to its AV_Halo software platform: INSTINCT and DETECT. The company made the announcement at SOF Week in Tampa, Florida.
AV_Halo INSTINCT is an autonomy software framework designed for multi-platform uncrewed systems command and control. The module features natural language tasking, reduced operator workload, and integration with the existing AV_Halo MENTOR training system. The software uses a modular architecture for deployment on size, weight, power, and cost-constrained systems.
AV_Halo DETECT provides radio frequency spectrum sensing and networking capabilities for unmanned platforms. The module includes AI-driven RF detection for automatic threat identification and location, scalable security features, and integration with radar, cameras, and command systems. The software maintains functionality during electronic attacks.
Both modules integrate with the existing AV_Halo ecosystem, which includes COMMAND, PINPOINT, VISION, CORTEX, and MENTOR components. The platform supports intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, loitering, strike, and counter-unmanned aircraft system missions.
"In an era of contested communications and proliferated autonomy, advantage goes to the force that can decide and act faster at the edge," said Wahid Nawabi, chairman, president and chief executive officer at AeroVironment.
The INSTINCT and DETECT modules are available immediately and can be customized for specific platforms, sensors, and operational environments. AeroVironment released the initial AV_Halo platform less than a year ago with three modules, and added CORTEX and MENTOR components less than six months ago.
