Paychex Inc. (NASDAQ: PAYX) announced the launch of its Workforce Intelligence Strengthened by Expertise (WISE) platform, an AI system designed to automate tasks across human capital management workflows.
The platform operates across Paychex's existing products including Paychex Flex, Paycor, and SurePayroll. WISE functions through four components: autonomous agents that can schedule shifts and approve timesheets, intelligence systems for HR reporting and analytics, multi-channel assistants for task support, and advisory capabilities that alert human experts to critical situations.
"AI is integral to our growth strategy, and WISE is the next frontier of AI-enabled solutions for Paychex," said John Gibson, president and CEO. The platform uses what the company describes as decades of proprietary data and regulatory expertise to power its operations.
According to Chief Product Officer Ryan Bergstrom, WISE represents a shift from user-directed tools to a system that works proactively within customer-defined parameters. The platform can execute tasks autonomously while maintaining human oversight through what the company calls a "human in the loop experience."
The Rochester, New York-based company provides HR and payroll services to approximately 800,000 customers in the United States and Europe. Paychex processes payroll for about one in eleven American private sector workers, according to the company's statement.
The WISE platform integrates across multiple channels including chat, voice, email, text, and collaboration tools to provide guidance and task support to users.
