Amentum appoints Dr. Sam Nazari as chief AI architect

Amentum (NYSE: AMTM) has appointed Dr. Sam Nazari as chief AI architect, according to a company statement. In this newly created position, Nazari will oversee AI integration across the company and work with programs to optimize customer outcomes in defense, intelligence, energy, space and commercial sectors.

The role encompasses both customer-facing AI solutions and internal operational automation. Nazari's responsibilities include aligning AI investments with customer demand and ensuring AI deployments comply with FedRAMP, CMMC and client standards.

"Advancements in artificial intelligence are revolutionizing how mission objectives are achieved, enabling unprecedented levels of enterprise efficiency, precision, and scalability," said Jill Bruning, Amentum chief technology officer.

Prior to this appointment, Nazari led AI initiatives at DARPA while working for Amentum. Before joining the company, he held positions at Scientific System Company and Systems & Technology Research, focusing on AI and machine learning developments for the Department of Defense.

Amentum, headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, provides engineering and technology solutions and employs approximately 50,000 people across more than 70 countries.
