ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT) announced a partnership with OBE Power to deploy approximately 2,500 electric vehicle charging ports at multifamily residences across North America, with deployment scheduled to begin in 2026.
Under the agreement, ChargePoint will serve as OBE Power's exclusive technology provider for EV charging solutions, including chargers, software, and services. OBE Power will utilize its owned and operated infrastructure model to deploy and manage the charging solutions.
The partnership targets the multifamily housing sector, where charging availability lags behind single-family homes despite 80% of EV charging occurring at home, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. OBE Power will handle energy cost reimbursement, carbon credit revenue, maintenance, insurance, and repairs at no cost to landlords.
"ChargePoint and OBE Power are expanding our relationship from hotels and hospitality into multifamily housing, which has long lacked a simple and scalable path for EV charging," said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint. "Together, we are enabling drivers to charge where they live."
Alejandro Burgana, Cofounder and Managing Director of OBE Power, stated the companies have collaborated for more than a decade to deploy EV charging infrastructure. The partnership combines ChargePoint's technology with OBE Power's owned-and-operated model for multifamily communities.
The companies have aligned their multifamily development pipelines and plan to begin deploying charging infrastructure in the near term, according to the press release statement.
