Laser Photonics unveils cleaning cabinet for defense applications
Laser Photonics Corporation (NASDAQ: LASE) and Fonon Technologies announced the DTMF-4020, a laser cleaning cabinet designed for manual handheld operation that meets CDRH Class I safety standards.
The DefenseTech Blaster Cabinet 4020 uses the structural design of a conventional sandblasting cabinet to create a controlled environment for laser cleaning. The system features a fully enclosed workspace with integrated heavy-duty rubber gloves that allow operators to manually operate a handheld laser gun.
The cabinet removes oxides, coatings, and corrosion from components within a sealed environment. The contained system eliminates the need for specialized personal protective equipment such as laser safety goggles or respiratory gear. An integrated extraction system captures generated fumes and particulates.
The product targets defense and military maintenance, repair, and overhaul applications. The system aims to provide an alternative to mechanical blasting methods without the associated dust, secondary waste, and substrate damage.
"The DTMF-4020 demonstrates the continued innovation coming from our LASE Group of Companies partner, Fonon Technologies, as we work together to expand the DefenseTech product portfolio," said Wayne Tupuola, Chief Executive Officer of Laser Photonics.
Matt Kime, VP of Government Sales at Fonon Technologies, said the goal was to combine proven blasting cabinet ergonomics while eliminating dust, noise, and intensive PPE requirements.
Fonon Technologies serves government organizations, U.S. military branches, and defense contractors with laser equipment solutions. Laser Photonics develops laser technologies for cleaning, surface preparation, and precision material processing across defense, aerospace, energy, maritime, automotive, and manufacturing markets.
