BlackSky secures seven-figure government contract for Gen-2 satellite services

BlackSky Technology Inc. (NYSE: BKSY) announced it received a seven-figure subscription contract from a new government customer for Gen-2 mission applications. The Herndon, Virginia-based satellite imagery company said the initial one-year contract expands access to its Gen-2 satellite constellation capacity.
The contract covers new and advanced Gen-2 mission applications, according to the company's statement. BlackSky operates a constellation of satellites that provide high-resolution imagery and analytics services to government and commercial customers.
"BlackSky's Gen-2 constellation continues to provide tremendous real-time operational utility to our global customer base with high-cadence, rapid-revisit high resolution imagery and AI-enabled analytics," said Brian O'Toole, BlackSky CEO.
The company stated that Gen-2 satellites remain foundational to its space-based intelligence capabilities as it integrates additional Gen-3 satellites into its dual constellation framework. BlackSky's services include monitoring events on Earth and objects in orbit through its satellite network.
BlackSky provides satellite imagery and analytics through subscription-based services and sovereign systems. The company's platform combines satellite tasking software with its low earth orbit satellite constellation to deliver real-time intelligence services.
The company serves U.S. and international government agencies as well as commercial customers. BlackSky trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BKSY.
