TotalEnergies signs offshore exploration deal with Syria

TotalEnergies (Paris: TTE) (LSE: TTE) (NYSE: TTE) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Syrian Petroleum Company for exploration of Block 3, an offshore area in the Mediterranean Sea, according to a company statement.
The agreement includes partners QatarEnergy and ConocoPhillips. The memorandum covers a technical review of the offshore Block 3 area and establishes a framework for technical and commercial discussions related to exploration activities.
"We are pleased to enter into this new partnership with the Syrian Petroleum Company with which we had a long and fruitful relationship from 1988 to 2011, and we look forward to cooperating with QatarEnergy and ConocoPhillips to assess Syrian offshore exploration opportunities in the Mediterranean Sea," said Julien Pouget, Senior Vice President Middle East and North Africa Exploration & Production at TotalEnergies.
The French energy company previously worked with the Syrian Petroleum Company for 23 years before ending operations in 2011. TotalEnergies operates in approximately 120 countries and employs more than 100,000 people globally.
