JinkoSolar signs 2GW solar module deal with Masdar for Abu Dhabi project
JinkoSolar signed a strategic supply agreement with Masdar to provide 2 gigawatts of Tiger Neo solar modules for the RTC project in Abu Dhabi, according to a company statement.
The RTC project represents the world's first gigascale round-the-clock renewable energy facility, combining a 5.2GW solar photovoltaic plant with a 19 gigawatt-hour battery energy storage system. Masdar and Emirates Water and Electricity Company are jointly developing the project.
JinkoSolar will supply Tiger Neo modules based on N-type TOPCon technology for the project. The signing ceremony included executives from both companies, with Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, and Charlie Cao, CEO of JinkoSolar, among the attendees.
The RTC project aims to produce baseload renewable energy continuously, addressing the intermittency typically associated with solar power generation. The facility is designed to serve as a model for similar projects internationally.
JinkoSolar stated the agreement represents a milestone for its expansion in the Middle Eastern renewable energy market and its partnership with Masdar. The company will provide technical services alongside module delivery for the project's development.
