ICE reports record open interest growth in April 2026

Intercontinental Exchange Inc. (NYSE: ICE) reported April 2026 trading statistics showing total open interest increased 23% year-over-year, reaching a record 125.5 million lots on April 24.
The financial markets technology provider said energy open interest rose 6% year-over-year, with oil products up 4% and natural gas up 7%. Brent crude open interest increased 3%, while other crude and refined products gained 7%. Asia gas open interest jumped 32% year-over-year.
Agriculture and metals average daily volume climbed 24% year-over-year, with open interest up 37%. Sugar average daily volume increased 30% and open interest rose 26%. Cocoa average daily volume gained 41% with open interest up 51%. Cotton set records with average daily volume up 28% and open interest climbing 77% year-over-year.
Financial products average daily volume increased 8% year-over-year, while open interest surged 55%, including a record 51.4 million lots on April 30. Interest rates average daily volume rose 10% with open interest up 61%, reaching a record 47.8 million lots on April 30.
SONIA average daily volume increased 34% year-over-year, with open interest more than doubling at 105% growth, hitting a record 18.5 million lots on April 30. Euribor open interest grew 39% and Gilts open interest rose 14% year-over-year.
NYSE equity options average daily volume increased 30% year-over-year, according to the company's monthly statistics report.
