BD (NYSE: BDX) announced a partnership with Wellstar Health System to implement medication management technology across the Georgia-based healthcare network's hospitals and care facilities.
The collaboration involves integrating BD's Pyxis Pro medication dispensing systems with BD Alaris Infusion Systems to create connected medication workflows from pharmacy to bedside. The technology includes artificial intelligence-powered analytics that provide real-time visibility into medication inventory and customizable dashboards for tracking trends.
The BD Pyxis Pro Dispensing Solution with Analytics offers enterprise-wide medication inventory visibility through natural-language queries. The BD Alaris EMR Interoperability feature allows clinicians to use barcode scanning to send infusion orders directly from electronic medical records and receive status updates.
"At Wellstar, our focus is on delivering safe, innovative care to every patient, every time," said Susan Wright, Pharm.D., Vice President of Pharmacy Services at Wellstar Health. "Partnering with BD to implement this technology strengthens our ability to focus on patient-centered programs and empower our teams to deliver care with confidence and compassion."
Wellstar participates on BD's Strategic Development Council for Medication Management Solutions, where healthcare system leaders provide input on enterprise pharmacy operations, medication safety, nursing, and informatics to inform future product development.
Connor Bates, Worldwide President for Medication Management Solutions at BD, said the partnership demonstrates how health systems can achieve connected medication management that benefits patients and clinicians.
Wellstar Health System operates as one of Georgia's largest integrated healthcare networks, providing over $1 billion annually in charity care and community programs according to the press release.
