ExxonMobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) announced that Susan Buchanan will become vice president and chief accounting officer effective July 1, 2026, replacing Len M. Fox, who plans to retire.
Fox, currently vice president, controller and tax, announced his intention to retire on the same date after serving as the company's principal accounting officer.
Buchanan, 44, currently serves as president of ExxonMobil Global Business Solutions, a position she has held since February 2026. She previously worked as vice president of strategy and business development for ExxonMobil Upstream from October 2023 to February 2026.
Before that role, Buchanan served as general manager of the U.S. Conventional Upstream Business from November 2022 to October 2023. She also worked as manager of upstream strategy beginning in April 2021 and held various positions within the company's treasury and controller functions.
In her new role as chief accounting officer, Buchanan will also serve as controller of the corporation. The company stated that she does not have an employment contract, consistent with other executive officers at ExxonMobil.
The leadership changes were announced April 28, 2026, according to the company's statement.
