JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU) announced an expansion of its Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport operations, adding 11 new destinations and introducing a loyalty status match program for Spirit Airlines members.
The airline will launch new nonstop service to six cities it does not currently serve: Barranquilla, Colombia; Baltimore; Cali, Colombia; Charlotte, North Carolina; Columbus, Ohio; and Indianapolis. JetBlue will also begin new nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale to five existing network cities: Nashville, Tennessee; Detroit; Houston; Chicago; and Ponce, Puerto Rico.
The expansion includes additional daily flights on existing routes to Austin, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Dallas/Fort Worth, Raleigh-Durham, Santo Domingo, and Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. JetBlue will also launch service from San Juan to Baltimore/Washington International Airport.
JetBlue expects to operate nearly 130 daily departures from Fort Lauderdale this summer, representing more than 75% growth compared to 2025. The new routes begin service between July and November 2026, with specific launch dates varying by destination.
The airline introduced a limited-time status match offer for Spirit Airlines Free Spirit Silver and Gold members, allowing them to match to JetBlue's TrueBlue Mosaic 1 and Mosaic 2 status levels. The program requires eligible members to submit documentation and meet specific requirements outlined on JetBlue's website.
"We're stepping up for Fort Lauderdale to ensure the availability of air service in this market," said Marty St. George, JetBlue's president, in a company statement.
The expansion follows Spirit Airlines' operational shutdown and represents JetBlue's response to serve affected travelers in the South Florida market. JetBlue operates Fort Lauderdale as a focus city and describes itself as the airport's largest airline by operations.
