Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) announced two leadership appointments, naming Alex Katouzian as executive vice president and general manager of Client Computing and Physical AI Group and promoting Pushkar Ranade to chief technology officer.
Katouzian will join Intel in May from Qualcomm Technologies, where he served as executive vice president and group general manager of mobile, compute, and extended reality. In his new role, Katouzian will oversee Intel's client computing business and emerging physical AI systems including robotics, autonomous machines, and AI devices.
"AI is creating unprecedented opportunities at the edge, driving a sea change in client computing and physical AI systems," said Lip-Bu Tan, Intel CEO. "Alex brings deep technical expertise, strong operational discipline, and decades of experience building and scaling global compute platforms."
Ranade transitions from an interim CTO role to the permanent position. As chief technology officer, he will advance Intel's technology strategy and lead development in quantum computing, neuromorphic computing, photonics, and novel materials. Ranade will continue serving as chief of staff to the CEO.
Both executives will report directly to CEO Tan. The appointments come as Intel seeks to strengthen its core product business and advance innovation initiatives, according to the company's press release.
