Wrap Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: WRAP) announced that the Carolina Beach Police Department in North Carolina has issued a purchase order for BolaWrap devices. The purchase is supported by grants from The Carolina Beach Police Foundation.
The Carolina Beach Police Department serves a coastal community and employs more than 30 full-time officers. The department will use the BolaWrap devices as part of its non-lethal response capabilities.
"Carolina Beach is committed to giving our officers the tools and training they need to serve our community safely and professionally," said Vic Ward, Chief of Police at Carolina Beach Police Department. "BolaWrap can provide our officers a non-lethal option when verbal de-escalation is not enough, but higher levels of force may not be appropriate."
The BolaWrap device is designed to deploy without shooting, striking, shocking or incapacitating subjects. According to the company, it uses sight, sound and sensation to create time and distance during encounters. Wrap Technologies states that over 1,000 agencies across the United States and in 60 countries use BolaWrap devices.
Wrap Technologies develops public safety technologies including the BolaWrap 150 device, WrapReality training platform, WrapVision body-worn camera system, and drone countermeasures. The company is based in Miami and trades on the Nasdaq exchange.
The purchase order expands the presence of BolaWrap devices across North Carolina, according to the company's statement.
