BlackSky Technology Inc. (NYSE: BKSY) announced it secured a nearly $30 million one-year contract from an international defense customer for its satellite imagery services.
The customer initially participated in a six-figure pilot program and scaled to the subscription contract within six months. The contract represents BlackSky's largest annual assured subscription to date, according to the company.
The contract provides the customer with access to BlackSky's Gen-3 satellite imagery capabilities, which offer 35-centimeter resolution images. The service includes prioritized tasking, guaranteed collection and delivery through the company's Spectra platform.
"This contract represents BlackSky's single largest annual Assured contract to date as we continue to successfully perform against our international land-and-expand strategy," said Brian O'Toole, BlackSky CEO.
BlackSky operates four Gen-3 satellites in its constellation, with the fourth satellite launching in early March. The company achieved general availability of Gen-3 imaging services within one week of the fourth satellite's launch.
The contract includes access to various imagery products including daytime, nighttime, stereo sets, and area collections. The platform also offers AI-enabled detection analytics for vehicles, aircraft and vessels.
BlackSky's assured subscriptions are designed for military and intelligence organizations requiring guaranteed access to satellite imagery over critical areas of interest. The Herndon, Virginia-based company provides real-time space-based intelligence services to government agencies and commercial customers.
