Investing.com -- Kevin Warsh, President Donald Trump's nominee for Federal Reserve chair, denied any connections to Jeffrey Epstein after his name appeared in Department of Justice files related to the disgraced financier.
Warsh submitted written responses to questions from Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, stating he did not know Epstein or his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell and never attended their events.
"I don't know these people, I did not attend any of their events, nor am I aware of having ever attended an event at which these people were present," Warsh wrote.
Warren sent the questions following Warsh's April 21 nomination hearing, seeking details about references to Warsh in emails sent to Epstein. The emails included Warsh and his wife on guest lists for events Epstein appeared to help organize. The Justice Department documents do not indicate whether Warsh attended either event, and he has not been accused of wrongdoing.
Warsh wrote that he traveled to St. Barthélemy with his wife for vacation in December 2010 but did not attend any events hosted by Epstein or Maxwell.
The nominee said there were no personal or financial connections between himself, his immediate family, and Epstein. He also stated he had no contact with Epstein during his time as a consultant at GoldenTree Asset Management LP in Palm Beach.
Warren serves on the Senate Banking Committee, which reviews Fed nominees. On Wednesday, Warsh received committee approval on a 13-11 party-line vote, advancing his nomination to the full Senate for confirmation before current Fed Chair Jerome Powell's term ends on May 15.
