Nexalin reports study shows brain stimulation device improved chronic insomnia

Nexalin Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: NXL) announced a peer-reviewed study published in Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics showed its neurostimulation device improved sleep quality in patients with chronic insomnia. The study was published online on April 20.

The randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trial evaluated four weeks of treatment using Nexalin's Deep Intracranial Frequency Stimulation technology at 15 mA and 77.5 Hz frequency. Patients in the active treatment group showed a reduction in Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scores from 13.8 to 7.7, which the study described as statistically significant. The sham group showed no meaningful change, with scores moving from 13.8 to 13.9.

The publication reported that treatment was associated with changes in neural activity and functional connectivity in brain networks related to hyperarousal, emotional regulation, and self-referential processing, including the Default and Salience/Ventral Attention networks.

"This publication represents another important scientific validation point for Nexalin and our proprietary DIFS technology," said Dr. David Owens, Chief Medical Officer of Nexalin Technology, according to the company's press release statement.

The study adds to Nexalin's clinical literature on insomnia and other neuropsychiatric conditions. The company previously announced data from a 120-participant randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter study on insomnia. Nexalin also announced its HALO Clarity pivotal trial intended to support a planned De Novo FDA submission for insomnia treatment.

Nexalin's Gen-2 15 milliamp neurostimulation device has received approval in China, Brazil, Oman and Israel.
