Teledyne FLIR OEM announced the release of Prism C-UAS, a counter-unmanned aircraft system detection and tracking software designed to identify unauthorized drone activity. The software combines thermal infrared image processing with artificial intelligence to detect small drones using fewer than four pixels on target.
The Federal Aviation Administration reports more than 100 drone incursions per month near U.S. airports, while the U.S. Department of Homeland Security testified that more than 60,000 drone flights were detected near the U.S.-Mexico border in the final six months of 2024, according to the press release.
Prism C-UAS uses patented algorithms to enhance target signal-to-noise ratio and increase moving target indicator detection range. The system includes an AI-based object detector and multi-object tracker software to reduce false positives and maintain persistent tracks of drone targets.
The software supports data from Teledyne FLIR OEM's Boson+ and Neutrino infrared camera families, as well as select commercial visible cameras for multispectral sensor configurations. Teledyne FLIR OEM stated the system enables "sub 2x2-pixel drone detection and tracking."
"Software has become a defining performance differentiator in today's C-UAS environment," said Jared Faraudo, Vice President of Product Management at Teledyne FLIR OEM.
Teledyne FLIR OEM, part of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), manufactures infrared sensor and camera modules. The company will demonstrate the new software at SPIE DCS 2026 from April 28-30 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center.
