CenterWell Pharmacy, a subsidiary of Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), announced a partnership with Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company to develop employer prescription solutions. The collaboration combines Cost Plus Drugs' pricing model with CenterWell's distribution network.
Under the agreement, Cost Plus Drugs selected CenterWell Pharmacy as a pharmacy partner. CenterWell will use Cost Plus Drugs' digital pharmacy software solution, SwiftyRx, for medication order intake operations.
The partnership aims to create an employer-based program that streamlines patient onboarding, automates benefit checks, and reduces prescription costs. The SwiftyRx platform will enable CenterWell Pharmacy to offer home delivery pharmacy services to Humana's eligible workforce enrolled in the Humana Associate Benefit Plan.
"Everyone should be able to get safe, affordable medication," said Mark Cuban, co-founder of Cost Plus Drugs. "This collaboration gives Cost Plus Drugs the chance to support more consumers."
Cost Plus Drugs operates as a public-benefit corporation with a transparent pricing model, charging a standard markup on medications. The company's online pharmacy launched in January 2022 and carries over 2,300 prescription products.
CenterWell Pharmacy is part of Humana's healthcare services business, providing senior-focused primary care, home health care, and integrated pharmacy services. The company operates home delivery, specialty, and retail pharmacy operations.
Bethanie Stein, president of pharmacy at Humana, said the partnership reflects an aligned mission to redesign access and affordability in prescription medications through simplified approaches.
