Lyft Inc. (NASDAQ: LYFT) announced it has agreed to acquire Gett's United Kingdom business, with the transaction expected to close in the coming weeks subject to customary closing conditions.
The acquisition will add Gett's network of black cab drivers to Lyft's London operations. According to the company, Gett operates one of London's leading black cab applications and maintains relationships with the majority of Greater London's registered black cab drivers. The transaction is expected to nearly double the number of rides on Lyft's platform in London.
Gett's business includes enterprise relationships with corporations, venues and public sector organizations in London. The company's team will transfer to Freenow by Lyft once the acquisition completes.
"With Gett, Lyft is expanding its coverage of London's full ground transport ecosystem," said Jeremy Bird, executive vice president of global growth at Lyft. "This milestone reflects Lyft's commitment to the London market and our belief in its long-term potential."
Lyft currently operates in London through multiple services. The company owns Freenow, provides bikes and stations for Santander Cycles, and plans to test autonomous rides in London with Baidu later this year.
The acquisition will not impact Lyft's first quarter 2026 results and will have an immaterial impact on second quarter 2026 results, according to the company. Lyft is scheduled to release its first quarter 2026 financial results on May 7, 2026.
Matteo de Renzi, chief executive of Gett, said the company is "delighted to start a new chapter for Gett operations in the UK with Lyft."
