Investing.com -- Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. unveiled a new fast-charging battery technology ahead of the Beijing auto show as competition intensifies with BYD Co. and other manufacturers.

The Ningde-based company, known as CATL and recognized as the world's largest electric vehicle battery manufacturer, showcased its latest Shenxing lithium-iron-phosphate battery that recharges from 10% power to 98% in six minutes.

The new LFP battery can recharge from 10% to 35% in one minute under moderate temperature conditions. The charging speed surpasses a nine-minute charge announced by BYD last month.
