Nuwellis updates Aquadex software with pediatric care enhancements

Nuwellis Inc. (NASDAQ: NUWE) released a software update for its Aquadex SmartFlow ultrafiltration platform, according to a company statement. The medical technology company said the update includes more precise fluid removal controls and workflow improvements for clinical staff.

The software reduces ultrafiltration adjustment increments to 5 mL/hr from the previous 10 mL/hr setting. This change targets pediatric care applications where smaller fluid volume changes can affect patient outcomes, the company stated.

"The Aquadex software update reflects our commitment to continuous improvement driven by customer feedback and clinical need," said CEO John Erb. "This release provides clinicians with greater control over fluid management – especially in pediatric patients, which represents our largest and fastest-growing customer category."

Additional features include a refined blood flow algorithm designed to reduce device alarms, an enhanced blood flow resistance graph for earlier filter monitoring, and expanded hourly data logging with additional therapy parameters for clinical documentation.

The company offers the software update to existing customers at no charge through standard deployment processes with field and service team support.

Nuwellis develops medical technology solutions for patients with cardiorenal conditions. The company's portfolio includes commercially available and development-stage technologies for acute and chronic care settings.
