Investing.com -- Barclays released a report on Tuesday analyzing artificial intelligence impacts across the Americas agribusiness sector, identifying companies positioned to benefit from AI adoption at different time horizons.
The investment bank said Ingredion (NYSE: INGR) is best positioned in the short term as the company shifts its business mix away from commodities toward a solutions model. Barclays noted Ingredion can use its existing library of ingredients and formulas to create solutions for unmet customer needs.
For the medium term, Barclays identified seeds and crop chemicals as clear winners, stating that AI-driven research and development in these areas enables faster development of patented products, stronger pricing power, and structural mix improvements.
The bank emphasized that balance sheet strength matters for AI monetization, noting that Ingredion and Corteva (NYSE: CTVA) can capitalize on AI opportunities now, while FMC's (NYSE: FMC) potential upside is delayed due to company-specific challenges and restructuring efforts.
Barclays said protein processors can use AI to extract more value per animal through automation, yield gains, and reduced product recalls.
Looking at the long term, the bank stated that AI reinforces market leaders by accelerating innovation, lowering costs, and improving capital efficiency across the agriculture sector.
