Krispy Kreme Inc. (NASDAQ: DNUT) announced an agreement with Jafa Holding BV to bring the doughnut chain to the Netherlands, with the first shop expected to open in late 2026.
The company plans to open approximately 30 locations across the Netherlands over the next five years through its franchise model. The initial shop will be a Hot Light Theater Shop, serving as both a retail location and production hub for the broader expansion.
"We're thrilled to bring Krispy Kreme's delicious, fresh doughnuts to the Netherlands," said CEO Josh Charlesworth. "Partnering with Jafa Holding BV, an experienced operator with deep knowledge of the local market, expands our European presence and reinforces our commitment to sustainable, profitable growth through our capital-light franchise model."
Jafa Holding BV is owned by Roberto Fava, who has over 35 years of experience in the food and beverage industry and has launched and managed over 100 hospitality locations throughout his career.
The Netherlands expansion is part of Krispy Kreme's broader international growth strategy. The company expects to open at least 100 shops globally and enter three to four new international markets this year, including the Netherlands.
Krispy Kreme currently operates in more than 40 countries through fresh doughnut shops, retail partnerships, and digital channels. The company is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.
