General Fusion appoints Wendy Kei to board ahead of public offering
General Fusion Inc. appointed Wendy Kei to its board of directors effective April 13, according to a company statement. Kei, who serves as board chair of Ontario Power Generation, will also chair the audit committee as the fusion energy company prepares for its planned merger with Spring Valley Acquisition Corp. III (NASDAQ: SVAC).
The Vancouver-based company announced in January its intention to go public through the business combination with SVAC. Kei brings more than 30 years of public company financial and governance experience to her new role.
"I am thrilled to join the General Fusion Board of Directors at such an exciting moment in the company's trajectory toward entering the public markets," Kei stated in the release.
In connection with Kei's appointment, Grant Gardiner will step down as a director as part of his retirement transition from Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. Gardiner serves as executive vice-president of strategy and development at the nuclear energy organization.
Kei currently holds positions as chair of the audit committee for Centerra Gold Inc. and board member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. She holds designations as a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant and Fellow from the Institute of Corporate Directors, and earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
General Fusion, established in 2002, develops magnetized target fusion technology and operates its LM26 fusion demonstration machine. The company completed the design and construction of the demonstration machine in early 2025, which operates at 50% commercial-scale diameter.
