Brown & Brown names Eileen Akerson as chief legal officer

Brown & Brown Inc. (NYSE: BRO) appointed Eileen Akerson as chief legal officer, effective immediately, the insurance brokerage firm announced. Akerson had served in the role on an interim basis since January 2026.
Akerson will lead legal, regulatory, compliance and enterprise risk management functions across the organization and join the company's senior leadership team. She previously served as chief risk, regulatory and compliance counsel at Brown & Brown.
"Eileen has been a trusted leader and advisor at Brown & Brown, and her appointment as chief legal officer reflects both her deep experience and the high level of confidence we have in her," said Powell Brown, president and chief executive officer.
Before joining Brown & Brown, Akerson spent more than 20 years at KBR Inc., holding various legal leadership positions including executive vice president and general counsel until 2021.
Brown & Brown operates approximately 700 locations with about 23,000 professionals. The company has provided insurance brokerage services since 1939.
