Brown & Brown names Eileen Akerson as chief legal officer

Brown & Brown Inc. (NYSE: BRO) announced that Eileen Akerson has been appointed chief legal officer, effective immediately. Akerson had been serving in the role on an interim basis since January 2026.
In her new position, Akerson will lead legal, regulatory, compliance and enterprise risk management efforts across the organization and join the company's senior leadership team.
"Eileen has been a trusted leader and advisor at Brown & Brown, and her appointment as chief legal officer reflects both her deep experience and the high level of confidence we have in her," said Powell Brown, president and chief executive officer.
Prior to the interim appointment, Akerson served as chief risk, regulatory and compliance counsel for Brown & Brown. She previously worked for more than 20 years at KBR Inc., holding various legal leadership roles including executive vice president and general counsel until 2021.
Brown & Brown is an insurance brokerage firm founded in 1939 with approximately 23,000 professionals across 700 locations globally, according to the company's statement.
