Laser Photonics reaches prototype stage for anti-drone system
Laser Photonics Corporation (NASDAQ: LASE) announced it has reached the prototype stage for its laser-based anti-drone system through a collaboration with LASE Group companies.
The system is being developed jointly by Laser Photonics, Quantum Technology Inc., Fonon Drone Shield System, and Fonon Technology Inc. Initial testing demonstrated the system's capability to neutralize a Class 1 drone through laser engagement, according to the company's statement.
The prototype system combines detection, tracking, and neutralization capabilities using a visual infrared "dome" detection methodology designed for wide-area situational awareness. The anti-drone system neutralizes threats through its laser subsystem, which the company describes as providing precise mitigation of unauthorized aerial targets.
"This joint initiative reflects LASE Group's commitment to advancing high-performance defense technologies through strategic integration of capabilities across its portfolio," said Wayne Tupola, CEO of Laser Photonics.
As part of the program, Laser Photonics submitted technical drawings and system documentation to U.S. Special Operations Command for REPTILE 26, the USSOCOM Counter-Unmanned Systems experiment, and to Naval Special Warfare Command under its Commercial Solutions Opening.
The system's "controlled takedown" module will be based on LASE Group's remote object removal expertise and enhanced by advanced nonlinear electro-optical systems, the company stated.
Laser Photonics develops and manufactures laser technologies for cleaning, surface preparation, and precision material processing across defense, aerospace, energy, maritime, automotive, and manufacturing markets.
