FOX Latin America has acquired Tigo Sports' local programming and production capabilities across six Central American countries, according to an announcement from Tigo Central America and FOX Latin America.
The transaction covers sports content, local rights, production facilities, and on-air talent in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. FOX will launch four new channels in the region in May as part of the agreement.
Tigo Central America customers will receive access to international sports leagues including the Premier League, UEFA Europa League, Bundesliga beginning in the 2026-27 season, Saudi Pro League, and Liga MX. The enhanced offering will include more than 800 live sporting events annually across baseball, motorsports, and mixed martial arts, plus coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
"Sports are a core part of our value proposition for customers in Central America, and we are committed to continuously enhancing that experience," said Luciano Marino, VP of B2C at Millicom (NASDAQ: TIGO). "This step allows us to deliver a broader and more compelling sports offering, including full access to the FIFA World Cup 2026 through Tigo Sports."
Millicom operates through its TIGO and Tigo Business brands, providing telecommunications services to more than 52 million customers across Latin America. The company employs approximately 15,000 people and maintains a fiber-cable footprint covering over 14 million homes.
The information is based on a press release statement from the companies.
