Supermicro launches edge AI systems with AMD EPYC 4005 processors

Supermicro, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI) announced three new edge computing systems powered by AMD EPYC 4005 series processors designed for AI inferencing and general-purpose workloads in space and power-constrained environments.

The systems target retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and enterprise branch locations. The new portfolio includes the AS-E300-14GR compact mini-1U box system, the AS-1116R-FN4 short-depth rackmount system, and the AS-3015TR-i4 slim tower system.

"With our new AMD EPYC 4005 processor-based platforms, including compact box, short-depth 1U, and slim tower system form factors, customers can deploy AI accelerator cards and dedicated workloads at the edge with improved performance, enhanced security, and reduced power consumption," said Mory Lin, Vice President, IoT/Embedded & Edge Computing at Supermicro.

The AS-E300-14GR supports up to 16 cores and 192GB of DDR5 memory in a 2.5L enclosure with HDMI and MiniDisplay ports. The AS-1116R-FN4 features expanded storage capabilities for branch offices and retail applications. The AS-3015TR-i4 accommodates dual-slot GPU cards in a 9L chassis.

Each system includes security features such as TPM 2.0 and AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization, along with connectivity options including 4x GbE ports. The AMD EPYC 4005 series processors feature TDP as low as 65W, DDR5 memory support, and PCIe Gen 5 expansion.

The systems support IPMI 2.0 remote management and optional GPU acceleration. Select models incorporate AMD 3D V-Cache technology for data-intensive workloads. The information was disclosed in a company press release.
